Overall: 4 stars out of 5
The second book in the Splintered series by A.G. Howard, did not disappoint. I absolutely loved the first one, and this one was just as wonderful.
The cover is absolutely gorgeous.
From the start of this book, there was non-stop action and events going on from cover to cover. This book did not fail to deliver on the creepiness, similar to the first one. It is very dark and twisted, but it is perfect for this novel.
The romance was more prevalent in this book, because you could definitely differentiate between both Jeb and Morpheus’ feelings, but not Alyssa’s feelings. I really don’t like the whole love triangle thing, but I found Alyssa’s hesitation natural and normal in this situation.
This book focused more on Morpheus and made Jeb a side character. Jeb wasn’t as annoying in this book as he was in the first, in my opinion. Maybe that is because Morpheus was so outgoing and pronounced.
Alyssa evolved as a main character and seemed to come to an acceptance of who she really was. I really liked how she matured, but stayed the same (if that makes sense).
There were quite a few times in the book that introduced an unexpected turn or twist involving minor characters (like Alyssa’s parents) that I really enjoyed.
If you enjoyed the first one, then you will love the second one. The third book in the series Ensnared is now out and available.
