Review: This is obviously different from my usual YA postings, but when I saw it was a fairy tale retelling in an adult fiction erotica series. This is a spin on Beauty and the Beast so I had to read it.
Also the slogan is “Bad boys need love too…” and I could not resist that at all. It is a short book that is well paced and only slightly dirty (I’ve read worse). Hall has created a unique universe where her characters can exist without being controlled by the story that all fans know and love.
The plot isn’t anything spectacular…it’s the classic ordinary girl has sworn off men after being heartbroken until the gorgeous womanizer (who happens to be French) shows up outside the library she works at. He’s put under a curse, she has to fall in love with him before time runs out…we all know the story. Regardless of that, it was really good!
This is the second book in the series and the first one was based on Alice and the Mad Hatter. The story is repetitive, but not so much that it would ruin my enjoyment. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves fairy tale retellings and sometimes a naughtier version than the classic Disney story.
